What is Cataract?
Cataract is clouding of the lens in the eye. Early cataracts do not have any obvious symptoms, but when the condition is severe, blurred vision, glare, dimming of the scene, and monocular double vision may occur. Surgery is the only cure for cataracts. Currently, cataract surgery is going more mature - The wound is small, and the recovery is fast. During cataract surgery, the doctor removes the cloudy lens and inserts an artificial lens.

With the advancement of technology, patients can receive treatment without waiting for the cataract to mature.
The higher the maturity of the cataract, the difficulty of treatment will also increase accordingly, so it is not recommended to wait until the cataract is mature. Therefore, when patients feel that their daily life is seriously affected, they should actively consider cataract surgery.
Generally, cataract surgery is performed under local anesthesia or topical anesthesia, followed by surgery under a microscope, which takes about 20 minutes. The patient does not need to stay at hospital and can go home on the same day after the operation.
The clarity of the implanted intraocular lens is expected to last for a lifetime, so the intraocular lens generally does not need to be replaced.
Under normal circumstances, one day after cataract surgery, you can use mobile phones, watch TV and computers. Due to the brightness of the electronic screen, it may cause some discomfort to the eyes, but it will get better with time.
In terms of exercise, simple, non-contact sports (such as hiking, walking, etc.) can be performed 24 hours after the operation, but swimming may cause eye infections, so it is recommended to swim by 7 days after the operation.
