What is SMILE Vision Correction?
SMILE Vision Correction, or Small Incision Lenticule Extraction, is a method of vision correction for nearsightedness and astigmatism, reducing patients' dependency on glasses. Compared with traditional LASIK laser vision correction, SMILE Vision Correction technology offers improvements in speed and quality - it's safer and less invasive. The procedure is becoming increasingly popular in Hong Kong. It involves creating a lenticule (a small disc of corneal tissue) within the cornea using an all-femtosecond laser, without the need to create a corneal flap. This lenticule is then removed through a small 2-4mm incision, achieving the effect of vision correction.
